  • Interlocking grip helps avoid swatting?

I haven't tried this yet at the range, but messing around at home last night I tried using an interlocking grip as opposed to my usual overlap grip. My hands and wrists felt a lot more connected and it was harder for them to break side-to-side.

Althought I try not to, I am prone to casting and swatting and subsequently scooping the ball high in the air and not getting much distance. I'm wondering if switching to interlocking would help avoid swatting?

I wish an interlocking grip would cure it. If I understand correctly, what you call "swatting" I call "flipping the wrist." The lead wrist breaks forward instead of remaining firm.

At any rate, because I have small hands, I have always used an interlocking grip. I have to be conscious about keeping my left wrist firm so that my left hand does not flip forward at impact, creating a great loss of power.

You new interlocking may be doing something else which is keeping your lead wrist firm.

    Best,
    Bill
