Guys as you know I purchased the new Sony High Definition Camera and have now finally jagged it to capture the swing in super slow motion.

    Would love some feedback.

Man, you can play on my team..you've got a really nice swing. Sorry man, I don't see anything to out of whack...For a driver, your stance is probably narrower than some would prefer, but you look under control have nice balance. I personally think there is too much chatter about going wider. I like the control a narrower stance can give you..Thanks and keep firing, that was a really nice swing to watch...

      Great swing

I agree with Buffaloranger, the stance is a little to narrow for me also, from behind it looks like you need to lift the left heel to keep your balance, I would just move the left foot forward a few inches so it is just outside your left shoulder, dangle a club from the shoulder and it should be just inside your heel, you will note also by doing this you will create a lot more torque in the backswing leading to more power.

Other than this minor thing I would practice your chipping and putting as the swing is fine.

      Hope this helps

      Ian.

        Tony,
If you are not a single handicap I will be surprised. As the lads said, only thing is widen your stance. Bring back that camera to the shop. You dont need it!!!

          nice swing

I would like to see right knee flex maintained at the top of your backswing. Having said that i watched the John Dayly video and he straightened his right leg so maybe my advise is unfounded.

Nice swing and tempo, I agree your stance is narrow, open it for a bit more stability.

I would suggest that you are not holding the club-face down the target line long enough but cutting across slightly to quick with your follow through, this may cause you some hooking? Your hands end up nice and high at the end but the club is laid well over your right shoulder which is pointing left of target, try and keep the club butt end and your chest pointing more at the target on completion.

            Well done

                Hey tony,

I ahve to say thats a great golf swing! That camera is pretty cool too!

I agree, make your stance abit wider that will stable you lower body abit.

Thats about it, maybe your hands come a touch inside the plane on the way back but thats nothing. Serious.

                Good swing,
                Rick

Re: Critique my slow motion swing

there are a couple of changes that I would make and I will throw them out there for you

widen stance a little for balance
ball position for wood that you are hiting looks a little bit back, since your stance is so narrow I would defenitely putt it up to the heel
get a little more space bewteen arms and body at address, this will help you swing more free and likely reduce the amount of mishits, and by how far you mishit it.

it looks like a very good swing, as far as the acton of it I dont know that I would change anything.

Brian, yes you are right - all my divots point left of target but i slice or pull hook rather than hook.

I was having a horror round today and was eight over after 9. I did try in the second nine and keep the club down the target line longer. I end up shooting 36 on the back nine for an almost respectable 79 along with four short misses from under five feet.

What I did different was kept the flex in my left knee rather than straighten it which was pulling my body and the club away from target line.

I am pleased that it has helped you. Many people try to achieve the "Garcia" look at the end of their swing (Right shoulder pointing at target and club laid around the neck) it may look cool but generally causes a swing that closes left through impact resulting in either hooks or slices depending on the amount of forearm rotation used. Full arm and club extension down the target line with a finish that keeps the shoulders, chest and club butt square on to target will help to improve the ball direction.

                      Regards
                      Brian

Re: Critique my slow motion swing

Brian - its been a real breakthrough, thanks so much. I knew it was something different with the ball flight at the range but I wasn't really sure until it was under pressure - We have a local Pennant/match play competition against other clubs, remembering I'm off a 9 handicap, I have halved with a four handicap shooting 76 last week and this week beat a four handicap 4/2 shooting 77. My draw is back, I'm not casting, slicing or lifting my head through impact and all due to stopping the leg straightening through impact and keeping the weight on the ball of my left leg rather than the heal. My divots now point at target or right of target rather than left of target. What a site to see a 3 iron start low and right of target only to draw 10 yards back from 190 yards out! There are still lots of problems with my "100 yards and in" game but I can now say I have a stable repeatable swing with a flush clubface that so far has held up to pressure. I will try an upload a slow motion video of how it is looking soon.

kiwi - your advice on keeping my right leg flex through the swing has made a huge improvement. Many thanks
