  • proper address for hybrid clubs

I seem to be having difficulty getting the ball in the air when using a hydrid club. It has an 18 degree loft angle and should get the ball up. I have not used it very much because that. I was playing with a friend the other day who encouraged me to use it. Any suggestions on how to effectively address the ball with it? I usually set up with the ball about middle way of both feet.

    Greetings

I swing mine, Taylormade Mid-Rescue #3 & #2 , just like an 8 iron. Don't spread your legs wide. Just like an 8 iron !

Well, the first consideration is your swingspeed. You may not have enough to launch an 18° head off the deck. Keep in mind, you're trying to hit a re-designed modern two iron.

Now, lets assume that you've got the swing speed. Most hybrids have onset. Yes, you read that right - onset. What's that? It's the opposite of offset. If offset is putting the leading edge of the clubface behind the hosel, onset is putting it in front of it. If you hold the shaft perpendicular to your target line, you'll see that the leading edge is in front of the shaft.

Now, the other thing to consider is that it's still a 2 iron that you're swinging - so play the ball in your stance like a 2 iron. For most people, that means moving the ball up in their stance (certainly not in the middle).

I hit it like my 5-iron. One ball ahead of centre, hit down on it.
