You're probably right Ricky. I'm sure my hands are not swingly slowly, but alas it's the clubhead that matters. That's why I'd really like to know, which part of the technique is the most crucial and usually the missing component, for one to go from say 220yd drives to 260yd?

      Matt10,
I am no expert but I had a terrible slice until a recent breakthrough. I had been researching all sort of different drills and addresses and grips and elbow twisting and the list goes on. Well my break through to resolve my slice was in my left wrist. The stance in my address helped but did not cure. I now pay very close attention to my left wrist in my back swing. If I keep it straight, the ball flies straight. If I bend it up, the slice comes back. If I push it down, I get a nice hook. What an amazing feeling to be able to slice, hook or hit it straight at will. This works for me with irons, hybrids and drivers.

        Thanks for the tips Ziegy.

I haven't had a problem driving the ball in a long time. It's my strongest part of my game, no 300-yarders yet, longest has ever been a 280. I'm about 5'7, 180 - so my size has been a factor.

I think at this point in time I am just giving up on all the methods out there and trying my own swing for a change. I was a 5 hcp with my own swing - why/how did I get so lost?

It was because I wanted to drive the ball 300-yards.

Hi Matt, I like your Blog by the way.

I found some time ago there was only one way that I could use my driver to give me good consistent results. I have to swing it more around my body with a very steady tempo and minimum sway. My arms have to stay in the middle of my chest for as long as possible and especially through the impact zone, this gives me a sensation of turning my body slowly(Slower than you think you should) and hanging onto the lag in my wrists. The tighter body rotation and synchronised arms seem to create good club speed, connection and release, resulting in a powerful and controlled ball flight.

Anyhow, this is what has worked for me for some time now, as soon as I speed up or over-power the swing everything gets disconnected. Maybe this will be of some use to you, if not all the best anyway
