  • Swing resistance...

Should the upper body turn or twist first away from the ball while keeping the lower body quiet and not rotating first? To me this is the proper sequence in the swing? I guess I am asking does the upper body and lower body need to move together or separately in the backswing?

    1) Upper body turns 90*
    2) Lower body turns 45*
    3) Lower body unwinds
    4) Upper body unwinds

    Re: Swing resistance...

the upper body coils against the lower body, if they move together no coil is created. You create coil by moving the upper body first and that in turn will pull the lower body once a certain amount of coil has been created. THis is very critical for short game shots

      J Rock,

Here is what I was taught.

Try to picture the sequence of hands, arms, left shoulder, being taken away in that order. If this is done correctly, the whole swing falls into a natural and correct movement. Likewise, when coming down, think hands trying to catch arms, arms trying to catch shoulder. They never will, but it gives a good idea of what you are trying to achieve in the whole movement
