  • ReLearning

    Guys,

I just started playing Golf again after a 19 year absence. I bought a set of Macgregor Irons and I've ben hitting the driving range 3-4 times per week for 3 weeks now. Finally I started being able to make some decent contact and while I still hit many bad shots, I'm started to hit alot more Good than bad shots. Yes, I hit Worm burners, duffs, hooks ect but about 60% of my shots are playable now. What a game to relearn! Anyway, I'm gonna video my swing so I can see where I'm truly at as far as my Swing is going. Will golf Lessons help that much? I'm nowhere near consistant and don't even want to play a round until I can at least have a chance to hit some greens in regulation. How much $ are golf Lessons and where can You get them? My father taught me when I was young. I've never had lessons.

    Re: ReLearning

    Hi Barry,
I was in a similar situation last year. I had a 20 year pause from the game, my father taught me also when I was a little lad. I've never had a lessen neither.
I started to go to the range last year to try and find my swing again, took me a while but its nearly there.
My tip is though get out on the course, it is a completely different feeling. I'm trying to get out more often on the course because my problem is now reading the distance and not being able to play 20 shots with the same club until it works, like at the range.
When you can hit a good shot now and again get out on the course and have fun, thats what I say. When you're out there find out you weakness and then go to the range to mend it.
    all the best,
    Ian

Hi Barry - I agree with Ian, getting out on the course will create a totally different environment from what you may experience on the practice range. If you find that you are losing too many balls in the rough or in the water, you will probably want to take a few lessons and return to the driving range for additional practice.
Whatever the outcome, remember you are there to HAVE FUN! Cheers.
