  • Pleaseee READ! I need 2 know this for tomorrow

    Im in a competition tomorrow and im playin really bad. I'm not bothered about gettin my handycap up .1 but I want some advice!

    I had a lesson with my pro because i was hookin the ball quite badly, he said it was because i had to rounder swing and i was just rapping my arms around my boddy.

    To solve this problem he said that my swing needs to move backwards in a straight line and shouldnt come inside at all! Better strike and more power, on the throughswing I was doing the same but he said i need to do the same to the forward swing as I do to the back and chuck the golf club towards the target! But its not working for me and im toppin the ball or slickin or hooking it. The t-peg marks left on the bottom of my clubs are out to insde swing as look as through im gettin spin on the ball makin it go right.

    The new swing hes given me sounds good but i dont feel right using it, its as through my arms arent right, i like movin rounder, my friend told me to move the club round on the backswing with my shoulders....

    Any advice would be great as I need this for tomorrow so i can practice.

    Any pictures, small clips, advice etc wud b great

    THANK U

    Hooking -> Takeaway inside

    Hi MaKa,

    I can see you pro's point of view. Sometimes the only way to get someone who is swinging too much on the inside to take the club away from the ball squarely is to get them to exagerate the correction movement. In your case taking the club back in a straight line - or at least that is what it will feel like to you. It will actually be taking the club back on line.

    The most important part of the swing for you to work on is the takeaway, this is normally where most people get their swing plane off to a bad start and one almost impossible to recover from.

    Go through this takeaway drill, and try and practice it for 10mins before your game tomorrow in front of a mirror, so that you can see that the club is being taken away correctly.

    During your game, also do a couple of rehearsal takeaway movements befor you hit your shot (just like Mike Weir does) - this is a great way of gaining the correct muscle memory.

    Good Luck & let me know how you get on.

      It was a 36 hole comp. I played 18 holes and come home lol

      My handycap is 20.3 and I shot 103 which is quite bad
      I tried what you people said just it doesnt seem to be inproving it alot. I get good contact with the ball but it goes straight off to the right!
