  • Avoiding Hazards

    Hi
Can anybody help me .My local golf club has just put a pond on the par 3 first hole to the left of the fairway. Prior to this I have been reaching the 150yard green with a seven iron .As you might guess my tee shot is know vearing right and with alarming consistancy helping to keep the pond stocked with my balls HELP PLEASE

    Re: Avoiding Hazards

I have three rules that have served me quite well over the past few decades for my golfing game with regard to hazards. They are to lay up short of the hazard if I can't fly the ball over it. Fly over it if it is close enough to do so. The last one is the one I use the most, which is to play away from those pesky ball robbers. I figure it is better to hit an extra shot, than to give up a stroke without even hitting the ball.... GJS
