Re: Question on chunking...
Up to a point, if your divots are not to the left of center (of your body) towards the target, then yes, ball position would be at the start, this would provide a shallow angle of approach, if however if your divots are right of center, you will be coming into the ball too steeply, and you have some weight shift issues, so placing the ball behind the divot will not improve things much.Originally posted by Jrock909Okay guys I have always taken a divot on my irons, no matter what kind of iron I have.... Re: Question on chunking...
Chunking, isn't that when you go to the bar with the intent of picking up the fastest girl there?
You might also be chunking if your spine angle is tilting down during the swing. Doesn't happen very often but can happen.

Re: Question on chunking...
Hi Jrock.
Weight transfer can be a tricky subject , too much and we sway, too little and we reverse pivot.
Try this drill.
stick an umbrella or an old golf shaft into the ground so that it points vertically upwards but just angle it slightly towrds you.
Now take your normal set up while just touching the umbrella with the outside of your right foot.( assuming you are right handed ).
Now take some backswings and aim to just touch the umbrella with your hip.
Repeat this until you get a feel for the correct weight transfer. If you can , why not incorporate this drill into your practice sessions for a while.
Soon you will ingrain a feeling for the correct weight transfer.
Good luck mate.Last edited by aftford; 07-25-2006, 12:38 AM.

Re: Question on chunking...
So if I take a few practice swings with the different irons in my bag, I should find that the irons will hit the ground leaving divots in different location basically farther forward as I move to the long irons, is that correct...?
