  • Golf Swing Help

This is my first post so wish me luck. My swing has been real stiff. I can't seem to get comfortable and rotate my hips, and get my entire body into my swing. What can I do to "loosen" my body up so that I can get a powerful swing. I'm a little muscular and my friends say I have a "football players" swing. Anyone know what is the best way to work on this problem?

    -THANKS

    Cautiously giving advice=

it sounds as if you swing with just your arms(if im correct)...you should 1st realize there is not a whole lot of movement in the golf swing.....rather than precise time in the range of motion of your lower body with the upper body following

swing sequence= 1.takeaway starts with shoulder turn (keep lower body as still as possible)
    2. weight should have transferred to back foot by the time you reach the top
    3. on the downswing you should start with a lower body TURN/rotation
    4. the arms will follow and maintain the angle in your wrists
    5. you swing within yourself(meaning as if you were swinging inside a barrell)

just a swing thought without seeing your swing

        Re: Golf Swing Help

        Hi,

Try these things to help you relax your arms and hands before you swing:

Address the ball, deep breath in then hold a few seconds, feel your shoulders arms and hands relaxing as you breath out, remember what it feels like and hold that feeling throughout the swing.

Waggle the club prior to the backswing, when I say waggle take the club, your arm and shoulders back through the takeaway and back again once or twice and continue to feel the lightness in your grip arms and hands.

Finally, concentrate on a smooth tempo throughout your swing.

        Hope it helps you

Thanks to everyone that answered. I'm going to try and hit the range this afternoon and try out all your tips. I have noticed I swing with just my arms, which is probably why after 7 holes my swing gets real tired and lazy. Wish me luck and I'll be sure to get back to you and let you know how it went.

          -THANKS Again
