  • Think I finally sorted my swing

HI all. I had a lesson a few weeks ago and the pro changed my grip. Result straighter shots. A week later I am using the new grip and my game falls to pieces. Slicing, missing the sweetspot etc. Noticed this week that I'm hitting the driver on the toe of the club quite alot. Finally today the penny dropped on the second hole at a local course!!! I was rolling my arms at the top of the backswing and losing the feeling of tension at the top of my backswing. I suddenly realised that I was missing this feeling from my lesson. I now try to keep this feeling at the top of my backswing. Now when I hit my shots they are more consistent and considerably straighter. I'm also hitting the ball in the centre of the club as opposed to the toe. Hope this makes sense to all you helpful golfers out there.

          Hi John,

sounds like a simple case of 'running before you can walk' you have a lesson learn something work on it for a couple of weeks and your game starts to improve...........................you think you are invincible and forget what you were learning.

Takes at least six weeks for a new swing thought to become engrained into your swing without conscious thought.

You are clearly on your way to fixing your own problems.

          Great thread

          Ian.
