Rharris, if you noticed I have said if you see him swing in person he looks almost exactly like garcia and hogan. The swing he plays with and the one he demonstrates are tottally different. He is trying to teach a simpler swing, not everyone can swing like hogan. I have been at the range next to him a few times when he is not giving a lesson, the man does have a great swing. Did you ever see his analysis of where he put his swing and hogans side by side?

Yes, I know he doesent teach the same swing as what he plays with. He ses he swings abit more two plane than what he teaches.

So I shouldent of argued with you there, My bad! sorry!

Funnily enough Ricky thats how id describe my swing. A hybrid of a 1PS takeaway/backswing and a 2PS downswing. I want to feel an inside fairly flat backswing on the way back and then an active forearm release from the top of my swing whilst delaying the turning of my upper body - else I tend to have that dreaded upper body heave from the top and I'll hits big pulls

The reason is I found personally that if I rotated my core/shoulders from the top with passive forearms I would always fade the ball. I could never turn my core fast enough to roll the forearms as quickly as I wanted to. Possibly dont have enough core body power or popeye like arms!

In order to work the ball right to left with more distance I needed to feel like I agressively released the forearms but to do that I had to delay that shoulder turn (back to the target) a fraction at the transition and swing in to out. I do this by bumping my hips to right field and then a split second later rotating my forearms as hard as I can down my hip line (which is now pointing at that first base position so in to out)

Be interested to know if anyone else thinks they have a hybrid 1ps/2ps

pnearm, one thing that kind of sticks out, IMO, you may want to re think the bumping of the hips to right field, that move can get you in a lot of trouble by crowding the hands, make you flip into impact, come from the outside, etc, etc, Or if you come from the inside you may end up hiiting big blocks. if you have a hard time working the ball right to left, one thing that will buy you a split secound would be to turn your rear foot out a touch, that will get a little bigger turn and in essence allow more time from the top of the back swing untill impact enabling the arms to do their rotation. just a couple of thought, hope you dont mind
            good luck in the search

              Re: One Planers

              Thanks Neil

Yes my main problem right now is getting a little stuck on the inside and pushing the ball, usually I hit one big right with the driver (a al Tiger ) a round. where I dont get my forearms over fast enough. I try to make the hip bump and forearm rotation almost a simaltaneous movement and when the timing and rythmns there it seems a very easy game

Interestingly I have started setting up with flared feet (charlie chaplin) and thats been working well. Have also started using more and more of your right forearm takeaways. As long as I keep the left wrist flat at the top Im finding this a really great way to get the club back on plane at the top with pure rotation and no sway. Even belted a few drivers 270 odd the other night with this approach and its pure gold with the short irons

              Play well

dont want you to think it is MY right forearm takeaway, I am just a messanger. I think golf has gotten to the point where there are no more new concepts, guys like Jones, hogan, palmer, snead, etc covered the bases

                  Re: One Planers

                  Hi,

After reading the various threads here on "One plane swings" and reading up on the technique in a few websites I decided to give it a try on the range.

I did get good results, especially with my driver, It seemed easier to keep an inside swing path. I did not get improved distance but seemed to be more precise with placing my shots.

I used slightly more spine angle, kept my left arm closer to my chest through the swing, rotation more around the spine angle which gives a lower positioning of the arms at the top of the back swing. It also seems easier to keep the club on plane during the downswing as there is less need to transfer weight and drop the arms .

Fairly pleased with the results and will be working some more on it.

                  Thanks
                  Brian
