  • easy tip on spine angle

many people loose spine angle and that can cause a lot of problems like, lack of loading up on back swing, coming over the top on down swing, improper hip movement/slide/rotation, Improper sequence to start the down swing, losing ballance, etc etc....
    here is a tip
grab a club and take a slow motion back swing while focusing on keeping spine angle and take it back as far as you can while keeping the spine angle. Take note of where you had to stop because you could no longer take it any further back. If you hands stopped at 11:00 then remember that
now go and take full motion swing and since you lost spine angle at 11 on the back swing, only try to take it back to 9:30-10:00 The reason you only try to take it back this far is because your momentum will carry you past that and it is better to error on the short side because spine angle can be kept easier. Give it a try and you may be suprised you hit the ball just as far, maybe even farther, the swing is more controlled and the ball flight will penetrate better.

    good luck in the search

    Hi Shootin
I absolutely agree. If you get a chance to look at the swings of some of the senior pro's , you will notice that a good majority of them dont take the club back anywhere near as far as they could in their younger days but are still managing to match their old distances. now, i know that modern technology can play a part in this but at the end of the day it all boils down to quality of impact and the older folk have realised that by shortening their back swing they will lose 10 maybe 15 yards per club but it doesn't matter, becuase they still know their exact yardages for each club , so they just club up to reach their old distances.

    cheers

tom watson said last week he is hitting the ball 20 yards further now than he was 20 years ago, and look at garry player yesterday shooting a 69 2 shots under his age of 71, wonderful hitter of the ball still. i agree the new woods help but it the constant ability to hit the ball on the sweet spot that make it work for them so well.

          Hi bill.
Very true my friend. You only have to look to the British Open and difference between Tom watson who is a regular player on the seniors tour and Nick Faldo who plays one or twice a year. Although Mr Watson is almost ten years older than Faldo, His overall score was much better because he is constantly playing , hence no rustiness.

          cheers

yes the faldo-watson is a good point and i have been watching the older player today on there tour, just seen bob charles at 70 till putting like the great player he was at 30 and craid stadler with two rounds mid 60s, wow thats hitting the ball on the sweet spot. think there is so much still to learn of the older player and also the women too, the girls seen to swing smoother and not so hard as a lot of the guys, is watson not nearer 20 years older than faldo.
keep up the good work aft
