  • wrist postion to hit down

can someone please help with this concept......i am a recovering CASTAWAY addict.......recently i have been making changes to my swing...some days good and some days a little under good

becuz of my casting my ball flight is really high at times.....

SOLUTION= i have been working on maintaining the right angle on my downswing......what i do is literally KEEP MY RIGHT WRIST COCKED all the way through and it causes me to trap the ball,,,,,WHAT A SWEET FEELING....i do hit it fat when i lose my spine angle with the slightest Dip and boy is it nasty

keeping my wrist cocked by my own force....is this correct or is it just natural and is accomplished by the grip

IS THIS WRIST COCK TO BE DONE WITH A DRIVER ALSO.....WHEN I TRIED FOR A SERIES ALL WELL MAJORITY OF SHOTS WENT RIGHT(I AM RIGHT HANDED)

PLEASE HELP AND THX FOR READING

Re: wrist postion to hit down

in the golf swing the right wrist does little cocking, but rather more cupping, meaning it bend back and at the top it is in the waiter holding a tray position. the left wrist is the one that does the cocking. you want the right wrist to keep that cup untill impact and release that cup just after impact. If you cup the right wrist in the back swing first, then cock the left wrist you will have an easier time maintaining that cup untill impact. if you want to understand more of what I am saying do a search on cup and cock since we have discussed that in great length

    good luck in the search,

thx for responding......when u say bend back so u mean my left wrist bends backwards as if at the top the back of my left wrist is facing down....just tried it in my living room i think i see what ur talking about

when u cup the left wrist it seems as if the right automatically stays in the angle....sort of along the ride sort of speak

here is a thread where we talked about it before,http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/g...highlight=cock if you have any questions after reading that ask and I or someone else will respond. it is my bed time cause I got golf in the AM and surfing in the PM, pretty close to a perfect day, if I only had one of those special caddys

Re: wrist postion to hit down

went to the driving range and worked on cupping my left wrist at the top of the backswing and the results:

flush shots just maybe a lil to the left, so in theory my backhand was facing the ground on the way back.....kinda felt like i was closing the club......

            please help

              hi trob
try putting a credit card in back of your glove against back of left hand and start of wrist and then feel like its pointing to the back of your head when at full swing and like you were hitting the ball with it on downswing, the card helps you feel where back of left hand is and it should be square like clubface at ball.
              hope this helps
