  • loss of swing mid practise

    hi all
i was at the range tonight and after a a good warm up started hitting wedge shots then worked my way through the irons practising my preshot routine hit every shot solidly.
all of a sudden starting with 5 iron i cant hit the ball they are all tops i double checked my set up and everything was spot on. cant understand how you can hit 50 shots perfectly and then really badly!
    is this a flexability/physical issue?
    any help appreciated

Re: loss of swing mid practise

You can get away with pulling up and out of the shot with wedge but the longer clubs will not work that way.
Please see many earlier posts on this from me but here it is again......ho hum:
        1. Making sure ball position is middle
        2. When taking downswing, pull the handle of the club towards the ball which will leave your lag-clubhead behind
        3. Stay committed to the shot and don't pull out of it.
Thats all there is to it.

          Hi Ian,
Have you considered using the three wood only. You could go up and down the shaft for diferrent distance. Would also work well as a putter!!!!!

Re: loss of swing mid practise

check out the methodology for the address position on this site on the above "golf lessons" A very simple and effective way to address the ball. Gives you excellent posture and correct distance from the ball. Sometimes I think topping happens when when our swing is restricted and we are forced to try and lift the ball. In this case the clubhead passes the arms. The address position as outlined, gives you enough spine tilt yet enough freedom to swing back and through. Also, soften your grip and arms. Let them respond to the turning of the body back and through. Hope this helps.

                Hi rob
what about 2 three woods could also be able to use them as a replacement for a TV arial.
