Tried this today and it was good. On backswing don't let left kneecap shootout toward the ball passed the right toes from looking down target line. On downswing, move right kneecap over left foot arch, don't let it get out passed toes. I see on vids of Gary Player and Bobby Jones who shoot the left knee out toward the ball, but none I see let there right knee get passed their left toes on the downswing. What do you think?

Re: Proper leg action
I think you are right. Maybe read pp. 56-57 of Hogan's "Fundamentals." He talks about the knees working "toward each other." In particular, the action of the right knee is influential. Ben kept it pointing in (towards the hole.) I remember gaining consistency when that finally sunk in for me.

but I dont consciously think about any leg action in the swing, I believe it is taken care of at set up and a good coil in the back swing

S4P:
I think those are all excellent points
to master. Let's face it, there is not
a hell of a lot of bio feedback that comes
from the knees. The golfer just has to
tough out the learning curve. There is
a feedback point -- the taut muscles of
the topmost inner right thigh. It seems
to get a pretty good stretch that you
can feel when it's done right.
I always enjoy reading your contributions,
S4P, and find them a help.Last edited by edshaw; 08-07-2006, 12:51 AM.

Re: Proper leg action
Hi,
The action of the right knee pushing towards the left on the downswing is fundimental to assisting with a suitable weight shift and body rotation.
Ledbetter has a good drill where you imagine a pair of large symbols attached to the inside of each knee, make them "CLANG" at impact as you push your right knee through.

Brian
