  • JoeD.

I recently borrowed a 6 iron from a friend. A Wilson fat shaft.

I was hitting about 25 yards farther than my 6. That got my attention,
but my curiosity was aroused by the feeling that the shaft was
    flexing just below the handle.

    Can someone explain this flexing?

I am a clubmaker and know that shafts flex about 15" above
    the hosel.

    Thanks, JoeD.

As a clubmaker you know the diameter of the shaft determines flex-along with composition of course.
The fat shaft hitting the ball further means you need stiffer shafts in your irons but remember to keep the hands ahead.
