Fighting the wind

On my home course the 17th hole is a par 3 that always plays across wind from right to left. This doesn't help me as i draw the ball and the wind takes it miles left and sometimes out of bounds. I could get some very good scores if i could play this hole well. Can anyone help?

BTW My home course is a parkland course but it plays like a links as it is close to the sea and we get very strong winds.

weaken your grip so you don't favor your draw and aim a little right to let the wind take it left. Also deloft your club to get a little more under the wind. Remember hands ahead

Use a longer club (plus 2 clubs) and do a 2/3-3/4 swing.
This should give you the same distance but less height.

It is 160 yrds so that is about a 7 iron for me. It has a long narrow green.

try hitting a punch shot with a 5 iron and look for more of a running shot, if you have go and play it sometime when its quiet try a few diffrent clubs to see what one works, i have a 165 yrs par 3 and its a 5 iron for me, when really windy i often hit a low punch with a 3 iron, if it comes up short i have a short chip and run and a put for par, i went and hit a few clubs to see what worked best and a 3/4 punch witha 3 worked best, it had bunkers to the side and back and the front of the green is best place to be. i i hit a 5 iron and wind takes it more than 15 yards left i am in gorse bushes on heavy rough with a pitch over bunkes onto a hard green with no stop.
i never take more than a 4 now and most times i have a putt for par. before i was sometimes taking 7.

You could just try aiming right of the green...

See my previous post but here are some tips:
To avoid balooning a ball into the wind, grip tighter, play the ball back and hit down on it.
Use one more club and swing easy; swinging hard only makes it worse.

You could just try aiming right of the green...

I have tried this many times but the tee lines you up left of the green and my draw turns into a hook with the wind so it is very unpredictable. Also the greens are rock hard so there is no chance of stopping the ball if it has draw spin on it.

Learn how to play the knock down shot. In Scotland, in winter, you cant play golf unless you can play this shot because its blowing a gale half the time on the coasts!

Club down by 2 , ball back in stance, face slightly closed, 3/4 swing

nice link and tells you just how to do it, like you said in scotland when its cold and windy you have to be able to play under the wind and get use to how long some holes become and how on others you can suddenly hit a 300+ drives when your normals drives 250 lol, thats why i carry and use a 1 iron.

Sounds interesting but a bit dodgy. I'd rather punch an iron rather than a wood. Plus you'd look like an idiot pulling out your 3 wood on a hole that is only 160 yrds.

On the other hand, you could look like a genius if you practiced it enough and put your ball on the green or pretty close everytime.
