  • Swing plane...

Guys I need a nice drill to get my golf swing on the right plane. Anybody know any drills? I am constant slicer of the ball, especially with the irons. I bought an offset driver and it keeps the ball in play for the most part, but I would love to know how to hit the ball straighter...

You just need to keep on plane?

Buy a couple shafts (or buy a couple pullouts from your local golf store). Stick one into the other, then stick both into the ground. The angle you stick them into the ground should be very close to the angle of your shaft at address.

Then swing, and don't hit the shaft. Instantly you're on/slightly above plane.

That's a good one Low. And cost effective too. I always wondered why you need to buy these mail-order gadgets when the simplest tool will work even better. I remember someone making a home-made version of the "inside approach" with coat hangers and one of those foam swimming noodles kids use.

If you go a lesson this winter, most instructors use video these days and the major part of the instruction is to build your swing plane. There are different theories as to what's good and bad, but consistency is the key to golf.
