I'm interested in finding out other peoples stats for their handicap. I'm hoping to find out where i'm average, above and below average and where i need to improve most.

My stats are.

Yeah that game track does look good. It's a shame it's only usga because I’m in the UK.
I don't know the % of penalties I usually make but it's not many. I can go 2 or 3 rounds without one and then have a couple of penalties in 1 round. I’d guess about:
penalties/rd 0.5
Low round: 81
high round: 106

The Up and Downs, and the Putts per GIR would be a good stat to know.

Lowpost, I think if you can somehow find a way to keep the ball in play and make fewer penalties that’s gotta be a great start. 5.19 per round seems like a lot. Is there a specific shot that causes most of them? i.e the driver or long irons?

Hey Daz,

Yep - I'm forever getting in trouble off the tee.

I have this nasty habit of playing the ball too far back in my stance. Of course, this means that I'm hitting the ball from the inside too much (push) and with an open face relative to my target (slice). Whenever I move the ball up, I start hitting draws. I always score better when I don't lose the ball (duh!). Take my last round for example. It took me 15 holes to figure out that I was playing the ball too far back. I came in the last 3 holes at 3 over with a par, bogey and double (double from skulling my approach, then mis-playing my chip back (sitting up in the rough, I went right under the ball), then got on an 3 putted. But from 15 on, shots were either straight or drawing, and all round I was making solid contact.

Daz, you may be interested in it if only for the stat keeping. Just add whatever course you like (and say it's a slope 113 and rated whatever the SSS is). Plug in the numbers from the scorecard and go.

I've had a look though my last few cards and here are breakdowns for each par.

Par 3: 4
par 4: 5.04
par 5: 5.75

I can't say this is accurate overall but it's acurate for my last few rounds.

I track my stats slightly differently - I don't monitor fairways hit, but I do keep track of all the shots I take from inside 100 yards, GIR and putts.
I haven't got my stats here, but I'll make a note of them and let you know (34 putts does sound a little high, I think I'm about 32 over the last 25 rounds but down to 30 over the last 6)

Monitoring shots within 100 yards is a great idea. I will have to start doing that myself.

I thought my putts per round were bad. I very rarely 3 putt but i also very rarely 1 putt. Last round I played I 2 putted every hole. I had 6 makeable 10 foot or so birdie putts but missed each putt by millimeters. Every second put was a tap in though. I lag them very well I just never seem to make any.

Currently I'm concentrating on collating the number of shots I've been committed to.

When I was keeping track of my numbers I was recording fairways hit, shots within 30 metres and putts.

My downfall is hitting the fairways. I'll only hit 3 to 5 per round. I would argue that this is because I'm focusing my practice more towards my short game.

BigDaz, I'd be interested to see how your short game is. 34 putts is far too many. You're not getting the ball close enough to the hole. The goal for putts should be 1.5 per hole, ie, 27 putts per round.

Lowpost, what are you using off the tee? I now only use my driver on par 5's (wind and design of hole permitting).

On my home course, I only pull driver on 4 holes - the 2 long par 4's and the 2 par 5's.

But lately I haven't been able to 'aim away from trouble' as I've developed a case of the lefts. But then, out of nowhere, I'll slice it like crazy.

I'm going to try to hit a range today. I've readjusted my clubs based on my new fitting theory, and I'm going to try them out. (I didn't lengthen them, so they'll be short), but the lies are right for keeping one posture.
