Re: Explanar
I have not used such a device but it does look like it could help determine a single swing plane. It probably won't help if you are a two plane swinger, however. For myself, I was able to find my swing plane by starting my back swing with my left shoulder (being right handed). Get into your normal address position. Then just move your left shoulder forward a few inches (or centimeters) and continue to the top of my back swing. My hips will also be moving but only about 45 degrees whereas your shoulders will turn about 90 degrees. If someone stands behind you on your line to the target and set their arm at an angle from the ball to your shoulders they will be able to tell right away whether or not you are on plane.
Here is a practice drill: Stand perfectly erect , arms extended straight out, holding a club in a vertical position while remaining relaxed. Then make a move in a perfectly horizontal plane, simply starting your left shoulder forward. Remember that the upper body must start turning before the lower. This feeling can quickly be adapted to a normal address position. The whole idea of this drill is to have your swing plane at 90 degrees to your spine. You don't need a contraption such as the Explanar to do that for you. IMHO
