I lead with this connection on the through swing and then extend the right arm down through the ball. It almost feels as if I am going to hit the ball fat at times - like I am extending down behind the ball. My head tries to stay behind the ball maintaing the spine angle. I might turn my head ad look at the ball from a side angle, but try and avoid lateral movement of the head on the through swing. The momentum of hitting down and through cariies me to the follow through. The 2 problems I run into sometimes are 1) being a little to anxious with the right hand and hitting fat or 2) depending on the lie, the club can sometimes slide under the ball. Mike.
Tks Mike, it sounds to me like youre also maybe a 'hitter' in that TGM pattern ?.. do you setup with the right arm bent and 'below' the left arm ..forearm facing the target and then use a backswing where you feel like the right forearm/palm stay square to the swing plane (right forearm takeaway?). By which I mean at any point in the backswing you can push the right arm down to the ball and the right hand will always come back square with little or no forearm rotation? Thats the feeling im working on with help from my mate at the range. Absolutely no right wrist cock at all....

Like you I feel like Im going to hit the ball fat .. and take a whole world of divot but my weight shift means my right arm thrusts the right hand in front of the ball .. indeed I aim at a spot just in front of the ball and try and drive my right palm/forearm down at that point
