Hi guys'
Would just like to know the advantage of choosing the best lob
wedge,used-rusty?new with deeper grooves?what loft? at moment using sand wedge in and around the green for most shots.Every low handicapper seems to have several in their bag,hence the reason why i'm probably not,lol.

do a google search for smt durometer wedges in the uk
i got mine from midas golf after recommendation from lowpost and i love em!
quality product tons of spin saved me a few shots yesterday

Gives you another tool for your short game. The lob is around 60 degree lets you have three or four more dailed in yardages. Has a little less bounce than your sand wedge. You dont have to trust opening your sand wedge up to get more loft. The rusty ones are ok, you still have to keep the grooves clean.

I'd buy a lob wedge that is 4° weaker than your sand wedge, with less bounce as well. This gives you a second option in firmer traps (with the lower bounce). 4° gives you a pretty good yardage gap from your sand wedge. And the Duro's put more junk on a ball than any wedge I've tried.

Hi Jeff!

Had the same problem last year where I only had a sand wedge to do the job. This year, I went out and bought a gap (52° and 5° of bounce) and a lob (60° and 6° of bounce). They both work great! In my opinion, too many people only use thier lob wedges only around the green. I use it from the fairway as well and the result is nothing short of spectacular. OK, maybe not that spectacular, but you know what I mean. I just rip it from 60 yards out with an easy swing. Well, all this to say that if you do buy one, don't be afraid to use it elsewhere than just around the green. As far as loft goes, 60° is fine.

dont use wedges around the green unless you have to. easy chip and run with a 7 iron will save pars, more lofted clubs such as 60 degree lob wedges are very difficult to control even for pros.

i got a 59 deg thats their lw they have rubber inserts in the hosel black and green for differing anti vibration level.
think durometer is the model name

Hi Jeff,

Yes, the SMT Durometer (like Ping i3 or Cleveland Halo - get the naming convention?) is a component club. What component means is that all the same R&D went into making it as the guys like Ping, Callaway, etc, but SMT doesn't pay tour players to play their gear (saving you and me money). It is NOT a clone (lookalike).

But any 60 will surely help your game. Great for short shots around the green. I know a lot of guys are proponents of chipping, but I can't chip to save my life (no practice, and no technique). So I pitch everything, and use the Pelz method.
