  • Eager to learn

I am completely new to golf! I am picking up one or two things here and there ! I am a fast learner ! and willing to put in the necessary effort to pick up the game fast. Show/suggest to me the fastest way to improve and join the professional fraternity ! I have nothing to loose for I want to give my best and prove to myself that I could do it! I won"t blame anybody if I don"t master the game the soonest possible ! But I won"t give up !

There is NO FAST WAY! there is no quick tip, there is NO SECRET!

Say you want to play the european tour, around 10 people from each country are lucky enough to be a tour player! 10 people! ITS NOTHING!

If you want to be a pro as fast as possible you need to A/ practice everysingle day for the next 10-15 years (expect at least 10 years of hard work before you even think of being a tour pro) B/ Find a coach that is as enthusiastic as you are and is prepared to work with ALOT! C/ once you can shoot -6 around everysingle course in the country off the whites, then maybe you can consider playing at a pro level.

I am 16 and now a full time golfer, I practice 3-4 hours a day and 18 holes! I have a great coach and luckily I have my Dad to back me up with money untill I am old enough to play on mini tours for my own money!

PS: NO ONE WILL/EVER HAS MASTERD THIS GAME! SO EXPECT A VERY BUMPY RIDE!

Where can this other method be found that turns the 5 iron into a 3 iron and brings the lower body into play?

I'm just above 50 and I think that is the toughest part for me is bringing the lower body into the swing to the extent it is often taught, my son and daughter on the other hand are both tall and flexible and the lower body move just seems to come natural. I am not tall, nor that flexible anymore.

I guess I would like to move to a swing that is more arm oriented and less lower body movement.

why do you want to turn a 5 iron into a 3 iron? You will have uncontrollable flyers!

I understand what you mean but ..... I didnt take the post as meaning to learn to hit flyers ..... what would the point of that be, I would take it to mean more distance from the club ..... maybe I'm wrong ...

                    Re: Eager to learn

Is not the term "flailing" the same as swinging a loosely hinged two part device, which when applied to golf would be, a golf club, and your arms, which are connected, and loosely hinged by your hands, and wrists? In other words a golf swing, with the proper release, which creates maximum club head speed through impact? Good analogy I think. GJS

I still dont understand why you want to turn a 5 into a 3iron! Distance isnt important with irons as long as you can hit most greens.

Correct, soft hands and wrist and the way we bring them into impact.

Do you play like that and if so what is your experience when playing in that manor if you do.
Yes, and no. Release yes, full swing, probaly not. 50 years ago when I was getting involved in this game that was way most instruction was on how to release the club head through impact. Yours (flailing) is just another way of explaining it. GJS
