  • good drives poor irons

That is how I seem to playing lately, when playing with my friends I drive the ball just as long as them although they are 2 handicappers and I play of 6.I hit the 5 and 3 woods just as long as them if not more so. when it comes to my iron play it is a different story! I take at least 1 or sometimes 2 clubs more, we all use standard clubs with same loft and shaft, even the same balls, if I wasn't driving as long as them I would have put this down to power of players, but why are my irons shorter and not my woods? any ideas?

    Re: good drives poor irons

    Hi,

Move the ball two or three inches backwards when playing your mid to short irons and let the ball speak...( before getting deep in technical thoughts: front wrist straight at impact, etc...)

If you don't make any divots with your irons you are probably sweeping the ball, this is good for woods but not for mid to short irons.

    Toni.
