      the only issue with pointing the butt end down the target line is if you try and pull it PAST the ball on that line you run the risk of being a flipper. The butt end has to go back to the inside or you will retard the natural release, get the hands too far away from the body, and not be able to accelerate through the shot. After the shot the body turns left and the butt end needs to go with it.

        Hi Shootin,

        You should not pull the butt past on the downswing, at the point the butt faces the ball (about half way down) the club head then traces along the line until pointing parallel with the feet again past impact, the butt end then traces on with the follow through.

        It's not easy to describe like this. Have a look at that link to Butch Harmon's Laser trainer and Nick Bradley's article. It shows in graphics the reasoning.
