  • ball starting right or straight and going right!!

    hello,

i seem to have ironed out my over the top problems which were a total knightmare. Ive had a very torrid time of it this year and was at my wits end with being unable to actually hit the ball for the first time ever. This all stemed from a number of lessons that i had. Anyway i seem to be mostly out of the woods. Ive been custom fit for a lovely new set of Mx-25's. Got a new training aid, weighted club, and am now getting reasonable crisp contact at the ball. Whats more the ball is now starting right, so i seem to have developed a wee bit of an inside path. However i still have a fade/ cut right, which hilariously was why i wnt for the lessons in the first place.

So how do i now get a nice wee draw. I ve done a f air bit of studying on the swing , books etc and on here. although i am no technical expert. I know that i should not trying to rotate my wrists closed - but let this happen. So why is it not happenig folks. Clubface is still apparently open at impact. i generally have a picture pose finish- anyone got any ideas or suggestions or drills even, would be greatly appreciated.

NB i noticed in 1 of Brians earlier posts he was talking about range yips and holding the wrists cocked for too long- i dont think it is this but the point is even if it was i wouldnt really know how to sus that out. Anyway thats it folks so thanks in advance.

Firstly you need to see if your clubface is open a impact.this is either because the club at address is open or your grip is too weak.go and see a coach with a good simulater or a vector launch monitor they will be able to check this

This part, my good man, is obvious. The clubface is open relative to the swing path. Tinny's ball flight (and mine, for that matter) tell us that.

This also assumes that all other things are fundamentally sound in Tinny's swing. We could also look at ball position and wrist load - if the ball is too far back (and all other fundamentals are sound) and the wrists are still loaded, we get a push start and an open clubface. However, testing has shown that the open clubface is the primary determiner of initial ball direction. Yes, swing path influences it, but face angle is the stronger influence.

A sim or launch monitor is not needed nor can be used to detect face angle at address or grip strength. However, it may help somewhat in determining face angle at impact.

Moving the ball up could give you more time to close the face, and eliminate the push (again, assuming your fundamentals are correct).

If you're hanging back you can push, if you slide too much you can push. A little video would certainly help.

        hi thanks for input fellas.

i will try and get a video at some point soon- i have vids of all my lessons but my swing has changed since then so not much point in showing you them. I know most people probably say that there grip, set up are sound when sometimes they are not. but i am fairly certain that they are. Ive spent more time on my grip htan anything reccently. clubface is square at set up, and posture etc is good. i know all this from my lessons. I have a tendancy to move to/slide too much to the right on the back swing- which would cos the problems that i have, but i have been playing close attention to this reccently and dont think it is this.

Reading some posts last night i wasnt starting my backswing with the shoulders, which i am going to try. I will get back to you with this, maybe thtis will have an impact.

Also meant to say ball postion is ok. middle for 7 iron ive moved it forward to see if the extra time allowed me to close the face, it didnt- same ball flight.
