I Have Been Hooking Every Club A Couple Guys Said I Was Reverse Pivoting Can That Cause A Hook And Why Would It

    Re: Hooking

RP usually causes slices. Hooks happen because the hands flip through impact before the arms get there. So, I think you can still RP and hook if you really are dilligant enough.

You are probably hitting on an out to in path but closing your wrists at impact.

Do your divots point left of target?

            Re: Hooking

So ur hitting everything with an in-out swing path, i had this problem when i first started and when u duck hook it you also have to much hand action.

So, in the backswing get the club more IN FRONT of you and to the outside, then on the downswing use your BODY and turn VERY HARD with the upper body NO HANDS (obviously there will be a little hands) but feel like you use your BODY to create your power on the downswing.

So, make sure club doesent get inside on backswing, and turn HARD on downswing.

not sure to be honest. but YOU HAVE TO stop takinng it inside! As soon as you start takeing it to the outside on the takeaway that might just cure the duck hook on its own. If that doesent cure it on its own remember to take the HANDS totally OUT of the swing and TURN!

check your grip. your right hand should not touch the club except for your fingers. if your right hand "claws" the club you may have more of a tendency to turn it over.

I would suggest you have two things to work on.

Rolling the wrists and arms inside on the takeaway. Work on scribing steady arc with your left arm.

You are probably using your arms too much on the downswing and losing synchronisation with your body. slide and rotate Hips, drop arms then rotate shoulders on the way down but don't rush it.

Surely useing to much arms would cause him to pull the ball?? That would mean he is coming from the outside! Slide and rotate the hips and drop the arms is probably the worst advice u can give somebody who already gets stuck and flips his hands which results in a duck hook??

                        Ricky,

When I say he is using his arms I refer to their early rotation and outracing the torso that allows the toe of the club to pass the heel early in the downswing. This combined with the club being taken back too far inside may be resulting in a severe hook.

With regard to the correct use of the hips, arms and synchronisation: These hooks can also be caused by the body slowing towards impact and the arms swinging on around the chest.

This is the best advice anyone can have with their swing by creating the correct inside to square approach with good body and arm sync, not forgetting the improvements with the take away.
