Re: Increasing clubhead speed
Paul is absolutely right in suggesting tension is the big anti when creating a good flowing swing.
One of the main factors in my view is the extra adrenalin produced when playing competitively, this causes tense muscles, especially in the shoulders, arms and hands. It is almost impossible to stop this completely, it is possible to minimise it's effects though. Letting the wrists cock and release with your natural swing momentum is one way, adrenalin will stiffen the action if you try to force it. keeping the swing smooth and controlled is another way to fight the effects. Feel like you are swinging through a big block of soft butter.
Rid yourself of the HEAVE, just swing through nice and easy. Distance will take care of it's self.
