  • Huge fats?

I've got a real problem when using the irons. I always take massive divots before the ball. Could anyone please suggest some reasons for doing this so I could try to correct it.

    Re: Huge fats?

You problem may be due to incorrect weight transfer that puts your weight on the front foot in the backswing and back foot in the downswing (Reverse pivot).

Go to the attached link and look at the first video "Reverse Pivot Drill"
then make sure your weight transfers to the front foot in the downswing.

      Other reasons:
      Lunging with weight on toes
      ball position too far back
right arm taking over the swing
Jerking the move from top of backswing to downswing
standing too close to the ball
standing too far from the ball

Take your pick or all but here's how to correct:
Take your address position up to the ball and just let your arms hang from your shoulders, relax everything,
Using a 7 iron, try to hit it like a nine iron, easy.
Sorry, got to go, more later
