  • Weight Shift / Sway

I think I've been shifting my weight too much and probably swaying too. I've been working on keeping my weight on in insides of my feet. This does kinda feel like I'm now reverse pivoting, but I think this is just because I've been moving my weight too far and it's a strange feeling. Can I be sure I'm not reverse pivoting as long as my weight is on my back foot at the top of backswing and on the front on the follow-through?

Surprised no comments on this one until now:

At one time I battled with a sway-was decent off the tee but off the short grass (chunk ,skull etc.).I believe you can reverse pivot even if the weight has shifted to the right side if the shoulders get way to tilted on the backswing-that would make the hips slide to the right and now the spine has tilted left(reverse pivot) with the weight still on right side.

Other folks on here can give ya better advice than me-but that is something that can happen.

I agree that it possible to reverse pivot without being aware of that fact (based on a feeling of differential weight distribution over the feet at the end-backswing position).

I have alot to say about the reverse pivoting problem in my backswing chapter at http://jeffmann.net/backswing.htm

You may find it useful, because it offers tips on how to recognise the reverse pivoting problem, and understand its major causes.
