  • What does this indicate?

I have a consistent pattern of marks on the face of my driver - looking at it face on, there are lines running from top to bottom but angling slightly to the right, about like this \\\ (maybe not quite as much of an angle)
I hit a very high ball pretty straight with this 12 degree offset driver, but this would seem to show that I'm getting a glancing blow of some kind?

What type of marks are they? Scratch marks, ball impression marks?

I am not sure about this but they may be caused by your tees. I take it when you are at address the marks would be going from bottom sloping left to top, looking down the direction of ball flight.

What normally happens to your tees after impact, do they go forward and left? You may have the ball too far forward in your stance causing you to hit up too much at it with the face closing, this would explain the high ball flight.

I'd clean the face up on your driver, and see when the scratch marks re-appear while playing, if they even do. That would tell you why they are there. GJS

if your hitting the ball high, but straight sound like your coming down steep on your club, and with those marks.. i'm assuming they are on teh bottom of the club, you have a slight outside in swing motion.

try rotating your shoulders parallel to the ground and don't focus so much on bringing the club up high. this should help flattern your swing out and make u hit longer and straighter.
