  • Right shoulder

    Hey

Just got back from the range and came across something that has been said for years.(Keeping the right shoulder back during the downswing)-I've heard things like keep your back to the target longer etc. I tried that at one time and that didn't work so good for me.Anyway halfway through the bucket it hit me to keep the right shoulder back longer (not my back) and left shoulder level on the downswing and not change anything else. Freakin amazing-I thought I was striking the ball pretty decent before but this was a different feel and trajectory(those one's that rise like an airplane).

I've seen the results but would like input on if this is a correct thought or maybe just the way the golf swing is supposed to be.

    Thanks, G

    Re: Right shoulder

Right shoulder should be going down plane while the left shoulder goes up the plane on downswing to impact. I think you are right on, and this is something I have been working on as well.

      Re: Right shoulder

      Hi G,

Yes that's correct. keep the right shoulder back so that it does not get past your chin through impact, this helps keep your spine angle intact while preventing lifting and heaving the shoulders.

        Thanks

I just hit some chips and pitches and couldn't hit them any crisper with the same idea.......There was times when I had a different swing for short, medium, long irons and woods.....doesn't need to be like that if things are correct ......UNBELIEVABLE FOR NOW...LOL.
