  • Extension on the follow-through

If you take a look at my avatar you see the break in my left wrist. This is something I have been trying to correct this winter. I have not been too successful at it until I found this article in Golf Magazine, April 2007 (with pictures). This is a driver drill to help me with this swing flaw. I want to share this drill with the rest of the people on this blog that have a similar problem. This is the drill....and basically quoting from the article "without using a ball, take your normal stance with a driver and swing the club back until your hands are about waist-high, then bring the club back down through impact. As you transition into your follow-through, however, let your right hand drop off the club moving toward the finish. You'll immediately notice that in order to keep the club swinging toward the proper finish position, you need to turn with your body and keep your left arm extended fully and your left wrist flat. This is the kind of extension you've been lacking". Once you get the feeling then tee up a ball and do the same thing. Then try it with your right hand just lightly holding onto the club into the follow-through. I did paraphrase some of the points but if you want to see what I mean through pictures I suggest you get a copy of the magazine. It's new on the newstands. Hope this helps people with the same problem I have. I need better weather to get outdoors to try it out.
