  • Leslie King method, hitting with left arm.

I've been working with this method:

for a while now, and have had a bit of an "aaaaah" moment while putting into practice his dictum that golf is a left sided game and you hit with your left arm.
Talking as someone with a massively dominant right arm (I couldn't throw a stone across the road with my left arm and would look like a girl if I tried) so my concept of hitting a golf ball involves attacking it with my right arm with all the associated problems that you can imagine - your chest is in the way of a right arm swing so you turn it out of the way and consequently throw the club outside - but a left arm swing is totally different, you can leave your chest closed to the target line and still swing through, thereby promoting the much sought-after inside attack swing path.
I've been playing 20 years and have got down to 11, but it occurs to me that all the instuction and fixes I've been trying have all been rendered ineffective by the fact that I hit with my right arm.
I just thought I'm probably not alone in this and think it would be worth going down the range with the thought of hitting with your left arm without consciously changing anything else (but other things DO change, for the better)

the thing about golf. IMO hitting with the right side is what you want to do. Just because most do it in an inefective manner they dont think it is the way to go. learn to hit balls one handed right handed and left handed. See which one gives you more distance and accuracy. the answer to that question is the hand I would want to dominate.

Being right handed, and knowing what I know now about golf, if I were starting from scratch, I would own left handed clubs. Of course back when I started out, left handed clubs were not easily available. I am pretty sure I would have saved myself alot of time getting to scratch if I had started out with left handed clubs. Yes, exactly, I've often half-seriously considered getting left-handed clubs and starting again, but life is too short . . . . . !

I take it that's because you would be stronger with your leading arm?
