  • backwing rotate vs lift

What teaches Jim McLean?, It looks like one plane swing. What do u think? 2/ in one plane swing , are there any lifting motion with arms? arms to the top of the swing? if I only rotate my torso without any arm move to the top , my arms are slightly below my shoulder line. Do I understand it? one plane swing is without arm motion? Arms do neothing and are glued to the torso? I would like to build swing like Vijay, cos I am 193cm tall, but I cant understand how to get the club to the top, is it also swing motion? Do I have to let the club swing to the top? or just bring it there by rotating my torso? THX A LOT!!

Try the lawnmower drill. As you turn your shoulders, pull your trailing hand up and back (like starting a lawnmower).

You have to raise your arms to the top in both swing types otherwise your backswing would finish at waist height.

In a two plane swing your stance would be more upright and your hands would lift higher at the top of the back swing. At the top if you let the shaft drop it would strike you around mid way along your shoulder.

In a one plane swing you would be bending forward more from the hips creating more spine angle. At the top your left arm would be almost on a line with your right shoulder, if you let the shaft drop it would strike you around the shoulder joint.

The two plane swing requires the arms to be dropped down onto plane while the hips start to unwind at the start of the downswing. The one plane swing is a more around the body swing where the arms, shoulders, torso and hips unwind together, the arms do have to drop down though but not as much as in the two plane swing.

Although not a rule, the one plane swing tends to suit the taller, leaner frame and the one plane the more rounded bigger chested type of person.

a pushing motion uses less energy then a pulling one. in the backswing have the left hand power to the top and see if you hit the ball better, just give it a try, it may work or may not.

          Exactly.

Want to feel a good top of position for your backswing ? Take normal setup . Only cock your wrist straight up so the shaft is parallel with the ground while still in your setup position. Now lift your arms straight upward until they are shoulder high while maintaining your setup position.

Now, just simply rotate your upper torso/shoulder, this will put you in a perfect top of the swing position. So is there any arm lift in the golfswing?

          Hell yeah!
