  • Golf Stretching Routine

Simple question: Does anyone have a routine that you can do each day to increase flexibility? I remember seeing 1 or 2 in my golf magazine. I would like a word doc (i'll pm you my email) or website that I could go to. I dont want to shell out money for some workout DVD just to get a good stretching routine.

    Thanks as always!

I recommend getting the book, Get Yourself In Golf Shape. Not only does it have a great stretching routine and golf-specific exercises, but it gives an excellent breakdown of the swing.

stretching after is what gets you flexibility. stretching before then going out and playing, which tenses your muscles will not give you the long term flexibility. with the knowledge I have gained, if you want to get flexible, I would say warm up well before your game, first go putt, chip, ptch, half and then full swings and you will be fine for your round. After do your strecthing routine. Just my 02

I just ordered the book you recommended & a book/DVD called Golf Flex from Amazon.com. $21 for both WITH FREE SHIPPING. It would have been $16 for each one individually.

Hopefully I will enjoy 1 or the other :-) Thanks for the tip.

I do agree with you Shootin. If I stretch BEFORE a round, it will wear out my muscles. I want something to do on days that I am NOT playing golf.

Stretching books, videos, etc are all over the place. You don't have to do all of the stretches....just the ones that tend to relate to the golf swing...the arms, legs, back. I try to stretch everyday if I can. I have about 6 or 7 different stretches. It only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Do the stretches slow and easy. No bouncing allowed. I also do Tai Chi (maritial art) daily as well. It is great for development of strength in the legs, balance, and stretching. It also helps focus, relaxation and meditation.
