help with shots going left

i have had an issue with casting the club at the top in the past...still have it from time to time i guess.....i just changed my grip from overlap to interlock....i believe this has limited my casting a bit but now i drive and hit shots that go right from time to time......but not too much with irons but drastic on woods

QUESTIONS..........
1. am i swinging with my arms too much?
2. should i be moving a little more with intiating a bump with my lower body to create some lag?

side note: i do at times get into a nice rythms and trap the ball beautifully.....but lately my drives have been awful....to the point where on some local course i can get away with using a 3 iron off the tee for 225-230....but i know on longer courses i will need my driver

Try this drill... do half-swings with your feet together... Then update us again later...

i have recently gone to the range a couple of times and have used that method and it seems to work pretty well....

Some of my swings thoughts have been.....
1. maintain spine angle through entire swing.
2.make sure that on my backswing my head goes behind the ball.
3.on downswing keep head back and right arm stays under left arm
4. finish on balance

i changed my grip a little and it help tremendously....i moved my left hand a little more under the club and it seemed to keep my club square....b4 i was hooking my drives....since doing that didnt hook not one drive that day


is this a quick fix or is this appropriate........

Here is a little mental image that may help with that casting. Think of the club as an unbrella, if you start down by casting, it will not open, just fluter, but if you start down with the idea of openning the unbrella, this gets you starting the downswing correctly, you will be less likely to cast, instead you will pull down, it is the only way to open the unbrella, once you start down on the correct path you will not pull because you will swing from the inside.

That's a pretty neat way to think about it. You would have to make the butt end of the umbrella point down at the ball instead of above it.
