Re: Is it worth buying a training club?
If what you want to do is practice your swing plane grip and release the the swing setterwill probably work. There are a number of other tools that help you learn other elements of the swing. There are impact bags, I've heard peple get good results from those and the are weighted clubs that are meant to be used indoors or prior to a round. The medicus is also designed to improve your take-awayand swing plane.
Honestly though, a couple of lessons are not very expensive and the teacher will definitely offer a few drills to improve what he/she sees as your biggest problems. Sometimes the tool is meant to help on something that may not be your problem.
The other thing a teacher will do is teach you how to tell what you're doing wrong and what you need to do to make the cosrrection. This is important because your swing changes over time and you need to be able to fix things as you go. "I'm pushing the ball so that means... so I should fix my alignment or strenghten my grip"... etc.
