This may be long winded but here goes, considering fundamentals(grip, posture, etc) are correct, I got to a level of tweaking my swing. Lastly, getting my left shoulder to point at the ball at top of bswing to get that 'power'. The only way I could do this was with a longer swing and all the inconsistensies that creates as evident with the new fantastic video devices like V1 and my camera. Ok, so now I'm sure that a shorter simpler swing is better but alas i can't get my shoulders to turn much by stopping the left arm parallel, I tried pulling my right shoulder back, and yes this helped somewhat but still no pop in by bat. How do those guys do it? I was taking some swings on my trusty practise mat when i felt that 'swing'. Yeah the one i occasionly had on the course when i played well.
Ok, cutting to the chase, do you torque against the ground or do you merely swing along it. For most of my 52 years I have only swung along the ground, so here is the fun swing..
Backswing=besides taking the club back on plane(which is very straight back, imho) and my right knee still, I keep the Hands Pushing Down at the earth, hey my left arm is staying real straight, my shoulders are turning a bunch and now i am only barely past parallel at the top. I feel torqued and loaded into the ground, ready to push off with my right instep.
Sure the extensor action helped keep my left arm straight but until i got the down at the ground action going with it, was I able to get fully loaded against the ground not merely along it.
