Golf Score Tracking Websites

Being a bit of a nerd, I've started coding my own score tracking website. I've seen one or two others, but found them not quite what I want. The ones I've seen only seem to allow US courses - which isn't great since I'm in the UK!

I'm just wondering how many of you use these sort of websites, and if so, which ones? And what they do well, and also what they could do better?

I really want to be able to see a chart of my progress over a period of time for different stats i.e. driving accuracy, average putts, greens in regulation etc...

I think also what would suit me better would be the ability to record partial rounds as I don't always have the time to play a full round!

I would also like to be able to record equipment changes, so you can see the difference over time of using a different driver or putter etc.

What statistics do you guys think are important?

Great program.

I like your idea to be able to not have to fill in all holes but still stat track - kind of like being able to track practice.

This has UK, New Z, So African, Aus and alt htcps. Tracks everything! Almost too much to track if you do it all. You printout a chart before each round, and they give you a notation furmula to use after every shot that you enter into the spreadsheet after each round, and the program takes care of all the rest. There is a HUGE set of statistical numbers to look at, and you can even set goals and see where you are meeting or missing in those...great tool. Here is a sample of the shot card you take with you and all the things they want you to note on each shot (open the file in MS Word, I had to save it as a txt file to get past the upload filter)

Thanks for your replies.

The Teego one was one that I had looked at before, but as I said, it's tied to only let you enter US courses! GStatPro does look interesting, but seems a little over-the-top for what I want! But, I'll take a good look at them both.

I don't know if I'm missing something obvious, but a couple of the services I've looked at (Teego included) have checkboxes for 'GIR' and 'up-and-down' - aren't these redundant since you know what par is, your score for the hole and how many putts you took?

Can't these be calculated by:

GIR: score-putts = par-2
(e.g. par 5 hole, my score was 5 and I had 2 putts, must mean I was on the green in regulation)

Up-and-down: score=par and 1 putt
(e.g. par 4 hole, my score was 4 and I had 1 putt, must mean I was on the green in 3 and sunk the putt to save par)

I would probably add a checkbox to indicate a sand-shot, then you can work out sand-saves in a similar way.

I might have a prototype working in the next day or two, so I'll post some screenshots if anyone is interested.

Hi Jonathan,

I would not say the checkboxes are redundant, no. When I enter scores into GT, I enter my ESC-adjusted score (and enter my gross score in the Notes section, as well as where I had to apply ESC and the true score for the hole).

So, if I'm a 0 handicap, ESC says my score for handicapping is par +1. If, on a par 3, I chunk my tee shot, fluff my approach into a bunker, skull that over the green, bounce that back over the green, but then get on and three putt (ie perfect end to the perfect hole. You come up with the reason why a scratch golfer is playing this bad ), the ESC entry would be a score of 4 with 3 putts - the calculation would be GIR=TRUE, even though it was false. Sand Save=FALSE would be OK though (but is user entered anyway).

Also, some folks use the up & down stat and scrambling stat interchangably. By definition scrambling is missing the GIR, but still saving par (ie U&D for par); whereas U&D can be used to mark any missed green, get on and 1 putt. I use U&D stats to track that way. If I miss the green, but my approach is followed by a 1 putt, I mark U&D=TRUE.

It is true that U&D is used differently depending on who you speak to - either way, you'd be able to determine U&D going by your definition by looking for a 1 putt? (thinking about it, that would make a birdie on a par 3 an U&D?!).

I suppose, an 'up-and-down' requires a short-game shot and a 1 putt.

My mind has started to hurt now! I started to look at the different handicap systems. Hadn't really realised there were several different systems, so that side of it is becoming much more complicated than I thought!

great site, you can track just about everything with ur score (putts, gir, etc.)

also gives you a handicap from your scores and you can find local courses with precise yardage

Wireless18 looks like what every golfer should NOT have - a cell phone in his pocket, but if you have to, this really is a great idea!

For $10 a year, this is a great deal. The program downloads for free and is quite easy to use...they did a great job. Good find!

yeh i agree, wen i gave it to my friends i made sure they turned their mobiles onto silent and agree to not answer calls!! tis a very gd programme and saves me loadsa time

Yeah, nice idea! Will look you up - I'm under 'bulldog2k'. Having flirted with wegolf.net due to the GPS positioning I'm back to Wireless18 with a vengeance - it's still the best and most well-thought-out package I've seen

I know what you mean - my dad said much the same, though the text size is adjustable, and you can get it big enough such that it's about the same as reading a regular text message - or you could take to carrying a Sherlock Holmes-style magnifying glass for extra style points
