I have been working on keeping by shoulders, arms and hands loose. When I hit a good shot the lag and release in my swing it tremendous. I have had such a hard time getting lag in my swing and have come to the conclusion that you can't force it, you have to let it happen. I try to have no tension in the part of my wrists that lets the them hinge up in the back swing. I think in that way I don't have to think about hinging the wrists. I am thinking that when I turn for the downswing it delays the hands a bit and gives me the lag I want. Does this sound reasonable? Is that what made things better for me? Am I carrying this relaxed arms, hands and shoulders thing too far?

Re: Loose Wrists
I agree with greg.. the hands and arms should be passive..the only thing you should think about with your arms is keeping the upper left arm glued to the chest/pecs throughtout the swing.. that way your body transfers its power into the arms and the ball..
I notice the minute I tense up my hands or try to control the golf club with my hands during the swing I hit a bad shot..I always makes sure my right hand is very lightly gripping the club and that the first finger and thumb simply just 'rest' on the shaft,, the only small amount of pressure I have in my grip is the middle finger and index finger in my right hand and the last 3 fingers in my left hand..the thumb and first finger should do nothing except just rest on the club
