  • Try this tip then.....you will be amazed.

    Guys,

Eureka.......I have heard many tips in my life some great some really poor but this one is about to blow your mind.

This TIP induces a perfect backswing and is an aid to a great downswing........Like I said you will be amazed.

Here it is.............Take you set-up and grip the glub, now as you start to take the club away (Press your right palm down onto your left thumb) this forces a perfect takeaway with a slightly bowed left wrist, hold this into impact and you have the bowed left and Gregs right hand drill through impact.

    There easy.

    Ian.................still amazed.

    Ian,

I tried it a few months back...(the magic move) worked for me for a bit but was hitting a lot of hooks and coming down hard on the ball. the position allows you to develop a lot of tension in yor forarms and you can feel it thru impact. my elbows started hurting after a while. but that is only me...It could work for someone else.

    good luck.

But surely you dont want a bowed left wrist at the top of the backswing???? do you??? I thought it should be straight or slightly cupped???

      Confused

        Ian,

Greg's drill requires a bowed right and flat left wrist?

Edit: Or am i getting confused with Bowed and Cocked

Hi pal .. long time no speak .. hows Liam coming on?

I do something similar to your description but I do it ostensibly to get "extensor action" where I try and keep my left arm as straight as I can. There was a thread a while ago about this where Greg had advised one of his students to do something similar - the original thread had some good replies

OK, I get it now, the left wrist is flat or slightly bowed the right wrist cupped, just like Greg's drill.

Will give this pushing or Extensor a try.

I heard this one, a similar version from my father in law and it works... I guess it helps prevent one from fanning open the club on the upswing...

You can find details about this move in Joe Dante's book "Four Magic Moves" circa 1962...page 55 "The Thumb Press"...this is the foundation of the swing. Page 72, "The Straight Left Wrist"...the strongest position is when the left wrist and the back of the left hand are in a straight line.

For those of you who are having trouble with this move, there is a subtley to it. You have to read Dante's book carefully but you must also make sure your left hand is UNDERNEATH and not facing outward when you begin the wrist break he talks about.

It makes a world of difference and it DOES work.

I don't know how you could hit a ball with that position. Tried it this morning in the house with my mini club for a practice. I think I'd break my wrist.

                              Hi Paul,

Hope everything is well, thanks for asking about Liam, he made the county squad last year aged 10, the youngest ever, only played reserve but he has got his first call up this year in June now aged 11.

He is his swing taken over winter.........I know it hurts me too...!!!!

                              Guys,

The golfswing extract is exactly what I mean, slightly bowed left back and through, you can simply hold this position as long as possible, gravity will do the rest, the right hand is cupped, as per Greg's drill the two compensate each other perfectly.

Look at Liam just before impact, he holds it perfectly.

                              Cheers

                              Ian.
