    Re: Stack & Tilt

I need help! I continue to hit my irons great with the stack and tilt, however, I lost the feel with the driver, and it is making me crazy trying to correct what I am doing wrong. The reason, I do not know what I am doing wrong to correct my swing. I am pulling all my shots with the driver. They are Straight left. Also, when I do hit it straight, just very few lately, I loose distance, approximately 20 yards. WHAT IS GOING ON! I have tried ball position thinking it might be to far back, then it might be to far forward. Does anyone have a clue or can guess what I am doing wrong? At this point, it is the only think that is causing me some strokes as I have to play almost always my second shot from the rough.

Can you say some more about this book? It sounds interesting.

        Re: Stack & Tilt

Hi, ubizmo, A brief passage from the book. In the normal swing, there is a weight to the right and then a move into the ball. My movement is the opposite. I push the club away from me so that I can pull it through the ball and I counter this movement by shifting my weight to the left. This is the same movement you would make in throwing a stone. the press of the right leg tenses the right hand and, as the legs start the swing, the left hand pushes the club under the right hand. The back of the left hand is rounded, or bowed, from the start, not cupped, with the back of the left hand facing away from the body. This gives a set to the left hand and bends the right hand backwards from the wrist into a flexed position.......Hope this gives you some clue as to book

          Cmays,

Can you elaborate a little more when you say "drop the right foot back". I seem not to understand exactly what needs to be done.

            Re: Stack & Tilt

cmays: I had almost the exact same problem as of late with the driver, but mine is a block, push, shove, weak 250 yard bunt to right field. I used to easily carry 260+ and now I'm suffering with it barely ending up in the 240-250 range. It feels very weak, and I know that I am not generating anywhere near the power and club head speed that I did when I first switched to stack and tilt. I will try the right foot trick. I have one question, do you keep your feet square at setup or flare your left foot out slightly like Mr. Hogan used to??? Your help on this forum has been very helpful and greatly appreciated.

            Best regards,

            D J B Z

Are you generating more club head speed now? You may need a stiffer shaft in your driver if indeed your club speed has increased. Experiment with some at your local club.

Here is the slow mo swing vision of Aaron's swing using the stack and tilt.

Hmmmm! Looks like the old staying centred on the back swing coupled with the Right Hand drill on the downswing.

                    Re: Stack & Tilt

Thanks CMAYS I truly appreciate your input. I will try the right foot back position. Like you, I am also a big guy. So one of my biggest problems with my old swing was shifting the weight and the turn.

                      Re: Stack & Tilt

Dropping the right foot back also gets the right hip out of the way so there is nothing impeding the downswing into the slot.

If you can read what I posted in Golf Swing Instruction/Brew's Swing about the left thumb and learn to use it in the proper method you will find yourself walking through on your shots after impact. Nick Faldo Hitches the Ride. Why?

                      And

Go-Navy posted something from the Golf Channel from Flick speaking on the hands coming in too soon in the backswing from Jim Flick. In the post under golf swing instruction , Arms in front of the chest. That is worth looking at.

The right foot is droped back so you can keep the hands out in front of the body and allow a larger shoulder turn in the backswing to bring the club to the inside.

I grew up playing cricket and cannot rid myself of the habit of playing off the back foot or transferring my weight. This method has finally cracked the code for me. F$%ing godsend. My mate gave me 10-1 i couldn't get to single figures but now i'm on my way
