  • ? for brianw or anyone!

a query about your ball position theory.
should i adopt a narrower stance if playing the ball from a static ball position nearer the front?
all i seem to do when trying your method is top or hook the ball!

    slats try this:
    overexagerate to get the "feeling"
Put the ball 2" OUTSIDE of the lead foot then use a 5 iron and try to make solid contact on the ball (hands ahead of the clubhead, etc) - this will almost certainly result in hooks but what you want is that feeling of coming all the way through the impact area. Now move the ball back to BrianW's spot and try to recreate that "feeling" of coming through the ball.

The reason I suggest this is that your old ball positions "may" not have required as much weight shift to the lead side. (This is how I swing. I don't use BrianW's method, but my own "works for me" method.)

Not quite with you there Slats?

You should adopt a narrower stance with wedges and progressively widen it by moving your right foot as the club gets longer but with the ball always 3 inches or so inside your left heel (heel not toe). You may want to reduce to maybe two inches from the left heel with a driver but that's a personal preference.

Take a look at this video, select the "Ball position setup drill" I think this may clarify it for you.

            hi brian
            yes and no
i really worked hard at the range tonight trying your method in the past i think my stance has been too wide!
thats what i meant about narrowing my stance in general.
maybe as cmays posted i am pulling the club too far inside for it to work properly.
whoever said one swing fits all is having a laugh
my driver swing is spot on now so i will concentrate on bringing the club head straight back with the irons
should have started this at the arse end of last year not 6 weeks into the season
