  • baseball swing drill

I was using the baseball swing drill to get a bit of rhythm and speed into my swing - to great effect, I played 9 tough holes in 8 over and I had 19 putts, all down the comfort and easy distance from the drill. Drives were longer, irons were crisper, really felt the benefit.

However, one or two shots did block left (I'm a right hander), good swing just a bit too solid left. I thought nothing of it, however played 1 round since and hit a few balls at the range and the block left has gotten a lot worse.

I think that my right arm is coming accross to early in the downswing and thus the clubface is dramatically closed at impact. I may be wrong in that assumption, but it does feel like that...

    What do people think?

    Re: baseball swing drill

It seems that putting was your main problem. 19 putts means you had atleast one 3 putt and if you got up and down at least once it means you had 2 or more three putts. So if you can bring those putts down you could have been at 4 or 5 over but don't get me wrong 8 over isn't a bad score. It seems like the swing is working for you so just try and get those putts down because thats how you score.

Thanks guys. I'll try to square things more and get the right hand more passive.

The reason I included the 19 putts stat was to illustrate that the baseball drill was effectivley giving me a 4 or 5 over for 9 holes type of swing, that I didn't hit 8 over on the basis of say 14 or 15 putts!

I know the putting needs to be close to 32-34 putts in a round and it's a part of my game I'm working on.
