about why my distances have gone all wonky!
For example:
My yardages usually follow a 10 yard increment and I usually pull a 7 iron from 150 given a flat, level, and clean lie with no wind.
Today I sent an 8 iron 15 yards long from 141, caught a 7 iron a little thick to roll past the pin 30 yards uphill out of the rough from 152, sent a gap wedge 30 yards past the pin from the rough from 106, another 7 iron 10 yards long from 155... and I was pummelling my driver today (300+ yards (carry and roll) the 3 times I hit it).
Now, a bit about me and my swing: I was informed rather recently that I tend to set up with my shoulders very open. If I don't conciously manipulate my arms in the backswing, my move is to roll my forearms - fanning open the clubface. I'm pretty good at rotating versus sliding, but also need to focus on turning the body rather than a little shoulder turn.
In other words, when I: turn my body, set my hands properly and square my shoulders, I blast the ball. If any of these are missing, I tend to give up about a club.
Is this right? Should this be happening? Should having square vs open shoulders and a body coil vs a shoulder coil make up one to one-and-a-half club difference?
