Shaft Plane Vs. Swing Plane

Would like some input on how this affects different swing types... Nothing too major.

The term shaft plane is confusing. It would be more appropriate to use shaft position angle. The term swing plane is incomplete, the complete term is swing plane angle. Within this context, the term plane does not apply to an object, it applies to a movement. The shaft is an object, the swing is a movement.

So,

The shaft position angle relative to horizontal.
The swing plane angle relative to horizontal.

I don't know how the shaft position angle can affect the method I use but I'm certain that the method I use will dictate at what angle I put the shaft. The same goes for the swing plane.

Hmmm...

Well, my ten cents worth. I am not too school'd up on the whole 1-2 swing plane theory and application, but I have been told that swingers that follow the shaft angle as the plane for their swing are considered single plane players. This is the plane that I use. It allows me to swing the club freely without my body getting in the way of the shot and causing an over the top move. I have seen some very successful players who lay the club off at the top and successfully slot the club in on the down swing, but most of the players I have seen do this are small athletic builds rather than an Ernie Els type build.

For me, the use of the shaft plane also allows me to easily check my swing plane and it seems more intuitive to me...
