I've been reading about the right hand drill, Greg Norman's "The Secret" and other stuff on here for months. It didn't make any sense. I couldn't grasp the idea. I bought "The Secret" last year. I couldn't get it to work. For awhile I thought I was using the right hand drill because my right wrist was slightly cupped at impact. (I wasn't !)
Although I'm a 5 handicapper, my accuracy is terrible. I have good timing and tempo so I don't mis hits many shots but If I don't have a wedge in my hands then I won't hit the green !
I spend most of my time chipping and putting to save par and nearly all of my shots are pushed.
Anyway after a miserable round of 82 on Sunday in a medal, I spent alot of time on here reading posts about the right hand drill, trying to understand it. Somebody on here said," with your right hand, try and touch the back of your wrist with your knuckles and then swing !"
I tried this. It felt very strange and was completely different to what I do normally. After a few swings everything clicked !
The right hand drill came into place, (keeping the angle until after impact etc !), the purpose of Greg Normans "The secret" made sense. I realized alot of things. In my old swing I was fanning open the clubface in the backswing. It's no wonder I pushed the ball !
Now the club face keeps straight throughout the swing !
I've also noticed a few more things in my new swing. My hip turn is now at 45 degrees. (My old swing my hip turn was about 70 degrees !)
I also don't sway as much and my left wrist at the top is flat and not cupped like it used to be.
I'm so excited I can't sleep at nights ! LOL !
I've not had any chance of playing because we've just had the worst flood ever in my town and the golf course is under water. Hopefully I will hit some balls on the range. I can't wait. Already I know I will hit the ball straighter.
I will post again with my results !
