I just wanted to start a thread about success stories with stack and tilt or somepeeps who need help with this technique swing. I'm from the chicago area and got to play at cog hill yesturday and shot a 79. I have been tweaking wit this swing for about 2-3 weeks and i would like to share my experiences with it and how i swing with it. The article say that you must tilt and to restrict turning off the ball since they focus on the centers. Well i tried what they said was blocking everything to the right or skulling shot due to the push off upward. I discovered with tooling around with the swing is that you can turn but you should also tilt also to keep the centers over the ball. I've read that you must pull up for the downswing, you may hit it crips but it can lead to flipping of the hands or pushes to the right. So i experimented with turning the hips out of the way so that hands have a path to swing since u are swinging your hands inside and it has helped me gain distance and control of the shot. For those who have trouble with the driver i have found that this helps out with the pull shots, you also have to make sure that your left arm matches the shoulder plane, if not youll be to much around your body and cause wild shots. I would love to hear back from others who have tried it, i don't think this stack and tilt is the next best thing but just a swing thought that has made me a better player.

Re: success stories with stack and tilt
well i konw this sounds odd but i have done the stack and tilt since i was about 7 lol...when i read the article i just kept saying over and over....wow...that is my exact swing...because i was taught to swing it a very straight backswing which i have kind of let fall to the side but it is a stack and tilt...mainly becuase i really lean into it on the backswing (not really a lean more of a shoulder turn down like they down)

Re: success stories with stack and tilt
fanofsaosin: I am now in my second month of S&T. I am a six and was a very inconsistent iron player with way too much hands involved in the swing. I used to average seven g.i.r's. and am now averaging twelve. I am committed to S&T and must say that the irons are so much more solid than they have ever been. The misses are much less off line and I have picked up lots of distance. HOWEVER.......The driver and fairway woods (Normally my strong point), have been a real challenge. I have tried many different things to fix this and read about others struggling with the driver. What I have discovered that has made the most difference is finding out exactly where in my stance to tee it up. teeing it lower did not help. I have found that unlike the irons with eyes over the ball and centers staying there, with the driver I set up with the left ear inside the ball so I feel like I'm already behind it before I start the back swing. This makes it very easy to clear the hips on the downswing and automatically created more lag which generated more club head speed, and ultimately more distance. I also make an effort on the range when practicing driver to turn the label of the ball where it faces low and points toward my back foot. I keep my eyes focused on the lower right quarter of the ball and it promotes an inside attack on the ball.
Thanks for your thread and anyone else that uses the S&T swing that has driver tips please respond!! CMAYS has been very helpful, I think he can play blindfolded and beat most of us!

Re: success stories with stack and tilt
If you have read the Vardon Stack and Tilt thread you already know I am a fan. I guarantee I played with this as a junior golfer. I hadn't shot in the 60's in over 18 months then shot 70 or better 3 weeks in a row. Not bad for a weekend warrior. Thin shots can happen, but fat shots are a thing of the past when done properly. Over the top can start happening, but can be worked through. I deploy more of a stack and stay there with very little tilt. But based on pictures of other pro's using this, that's what they do as well. CMays fan blade imagery from our posts in the Vardon thread can be some good stuff for range work. Have fun.
